Challenge

While SandboxAQ operates with visionary ambition and bleeding-edge technical expertise, its product naming and messaging have not kept pace. The lack of a unified or scalable naming convention and a framework would significantly inhibit their ability to ensure product, service, and messaging clarity, consistency, and long-term repeatability across their growing portfolio of solutions.

Solution

Model B was engaged to define and codify a strategic foundation, a cohesive naming rule set to guide the development of all existing and new products and initiatives. Our mandate was to organize the approach to serve current and emergent needs and scale with the organization as new technologies and offerings are developed.

We leveraged a four-step strategic sprint process to build key stakeholder understanding and confidence in our process, including the decision-making framework for all new names and future name additions.

Sprint 1

Developed and secured leadership’s approval of a ‘Rule Set’ to inform the creation of three different, distinct naming alternatives. This included a global competitive evaluation, executive and product team interviews, and a review of their strategic plan.

Sprint 2

Used Miro boards to present and capture input on naming recommendations, with alternative options, for all division, product, and services naming recommendations (pre-screened as available)

Sprint 3

Refinement of the final ‘Rule Set’ and preferred names (global check by IP counsel)

Sprint 4

Naming architecture documentation & organization rollout, including global IP protection filing by counsel
